Call for librarian artists!
For the next volume of Mississippi Libraries, we would like to feature artwork created by the members of MLA on the cover. Any artistic medium is welcomed, including paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, quilts, needlework, etc.
We ask that you limit yourself to no more than three submissions per issue (twelve submissions per year) and send only one submission per e-mail. At this time the submissions may be smaller, lower quality images, but the winning artist will need to provide us with a high-quality image suitable for publishing. Since this is for the cover, images with a vertical orientation are preferred.
Please send your submissions to Mississippi Libraries editor Tisha Zelner (tisha.zelner@usm.edu).
Along with the image, please include the following information: name, job title and institution, title of artwork, medium of artwork, and a single line describing the artwork. Also, specify whether the submission should be consider only for a particular cover (spring, summer, fall, winter) or for any cover. Please keep this information separate from the image (either in an attached document or in the body of the e-mail) to allow for impartial judging.
By submitting your artwork to Mississippi Libraries, you agree that:
·the artwork is an original piece created by you, and that there are no copyright restrictions on it
·you have given Mississippi Libraries permission to publish the artwork
·you have given Mississippi Libraries permission to manipulate the artwork as needed (such as cropping or resizing the image to fit on the cover)
Submissions for the spring issue must be sent no later than Feb. 15, 2008. Submissions received after February 15 will be considered for use in later issues, with the artist’s consent. We apologize for the short notice for this issue.
