Business Reference Librarian @ Troy University, AL

Troy University, Troy Campus Library is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic Business Reference Librarian to provide general reference services (including some evening and weekend hours), bibliographic instruction; which includes teaching to use and the searching of traditional and electronic library resources, preparing instructional materials, and participating in collection development/liaison for print and electronic resources.

Required: MLS or equivalent from an American Library Association accredited institution. Research, publication and involvement in professional associations are expected. The candidate will need academic library reference service experience with demonstrated experience and familiarity with searching online databases and the Internet. Familiarity or work experience with US government documents. Demonstrated knowledge of business information sources based upon relevant degrees, experience in an academic, corporate, or business library making extensive use of business resources, or corporate business experience with extensive use of business resources. Effective written and oral communications skills, strong organizational, interpersonal, and team skills, positive public service orientation, initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to professional growth, and research skills in a dynamic electronic environment.

Preferred: Experience with microcomputer applications; knowledge of HTML and SIRSI would be helpful. An undergraduate and/or advanced degree, in business, from accredited institutions would be helpful.

Salary and rank: Based on experience and qualifications. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank requires experience and coursework beyond the MLS and/or work toward the MBA. The preferred appointment date is as soon as possible but is negotiable. The position will remain open until filled.
