Cartwright (People in the News)

Paul Cartwright retired due to health reasons as a Public Library Director effective May 31, 2010.

His long career of 22.5 years in public library administration took him from Madison County through 1993, to Copiah-Jefferson Regional Library through 2003, and finally to the Yazoo Library Association through 2010. He served on many MLA committees and wrote an article some years ago for Mississippi Libraries on “The Public Library Director as Politician.”

He currently works part-time for Strayer University in Jackson, MS, and is the LRC Manager functioning as librarian computer lab manager, minor IT issues, as career services person, and as test proctor in his 4 faceted job. He also assists the Dean of Students with editing various campus publications. He is currently working on a PowerPoint presentation for students on “Paraprofessional Careers in Libraries.”

He is currently editing a large full color PowerPoint presentation of public library art in Mississippi to be presented at MLA in Fall 2010, hopefully culminating in eventual publication once fully compiled. Libraries not represented in this compilation can still submit photos and data to Paul at celinc2003@yahoo.com.
