I have a children’s book I’d like to introduce to librarians in the state. What is the process to participate in your event.

Your letter is pretty good, but it doesn’t mention the research studies that have documented that school librarians raise test scores by as much as 8% across the board. Administrators care about test scores and precious little else. The Accelerated Reader program (AR) which is supposed to be a reading enrichment program has all but destroyed school library programs. School librarians are under pressure to shelve books by the reading level instead of by library science standards. Many have caved in to the pressure. Too many school librarians in this state are burned out classroom teachers who tested into the job because they wanted out of the classroom, but not out of the paycheck. They make it even more difficult for those of us who are trying to bring our school libraries up to 21st standards.

Correction: They make it even more difficult for those of us who are trying to bring our school libraries up to 21st century standards because they are not highly qualified librarians trained in library science methods and standards.
