I may be too late for this since your deadline for speakers was June 11, but perhaps there’s a little space left.
In keeping your the theme, “collaborations”, the new Quisenberry Library in Clinton has some news. The land for the library was donated by the family with leadership from Bill Quisenberry, who is this year’s Clinton Community Nature Center Trustees president. The library land borders the Nature Center (CCNC) on our northeast boundary. The City of Clinton is completing work on a nature trail around the library which will connect with the 2.5 miles of trail on the CCNC’s 33-acre tract.
Our theme at CCNC, “No Child Left Inside”, emphasizes the importance of children playing in natural settings to become more healthy as well as to form important bonds with nature that will encourage conservation behavior as they grow to adulthood. We have begun work on a “Play Forest” nature playground.
Former Clinton library director Shelly Zieglar and I have discussed plans toward collaborative programs on the theme of “Go outside and read a book!”. I’ve also spoken about this to the interim director.
If there is a slot open for talking about partnerships between libraries and nature centers and parks, etc., perhaps we can discuss it further.
    Thanks,
    John Stark, 601-214-7426
