In 2002 and 2003 the New Members Roundtable co-sponsored the Beta Phi Mu Student Paper Competition. Beta Phi Mu is the international honor society for library and information science. University of Southern Mississippi SLIS is the home of the Beta Psi Chapter of Beta Phi Mu.
