You are invited to attend the MLA-ACRL 2011 Spring Meeting at the Mississippi Library Commission in Jackson, on Thursday, May 12, 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided by McAlister’s Deli.
We are honored to have a former MLA president as our guest speaker! Jeff Slagell, Director of Library Services at Delta State University, will present on the topic of e-books and the future of academic libraries.
The schedule for the meeting will be:
11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m. – Check-in and lunch
12:15 –1:00 p.m. – Presentation by speaker
1:00 –1:15 p.m. – Questions and answers
1:15 –1:30 p.m. – MLA-ACRL business meeting
If you will be attending the spring meeting, please fill out the registration form as a PDF or MS Word. The registration fee is $10.00 and includes either a box lunch or a salad and a drink. Please indicate your lunch preferences on the registration form. Payment can only be taken as a check. Make your check payable to the Mississippi Library Association. The registration deadline is Friday, April 29, 2011.

29th Apr 2011 The Technical Services Round Table (TSRT) Spring Workshop of 2011 will be held on Friday, April 29th at the Mississippi Library Commission in Jackson. Please mark your calendars to attend this program.
The agenda includes multiple-topics and is planned to suit a variety of interests.

19th May 2010 The ACRL-Mississippi Chapter of the Mississippi Library Association will be having its 2010 Spring Meeting at the Mississippi Library Commission in Jackson, MS. It will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. It will be a luncheon meeting, catered by McAlister’s Deli.
The program for the spring meeting will feature a presentation by Frances N. Coleman, Professor and Dean of Libraries at Mississippi State University, on the topic of budgets and libraries. The schedule for the Spring Meeting will be as follows:

The 2008 Spring Workshop will present several topics related to cataloging, with a focus on tools, technology, and change. Two sessions (Cataloging Tools and Wikis) will provide opportunities for hands-on learning, so please bring your wireless laptop to the workshop. Luncheon will be on your own. Drawings for door prizes will be held at the beginning of the afternoon break (you must be present to win). CEU credit for this workshop has been approved by Mississippi Library Commission.

1st Nov 2007 The Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) will co-sponsor a Map Cataloging Workshop on Thursday, November 1, from 9 am to 4 pm in the William F. Winter Building in downtown Jackson. Participants will learn the basics of map cataloging, including scale, main entry, MARC tagging, and subject headings.
Course instructor is Susan Moore. Moore has more than 20 years of map cataloging experience and has been teaching map cataloging workshops since 1999. She is a member of the Map and Geography Round Table of the American Library Association, and currently serves on the MAGERT Committee on Cataloging and Classification.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Southeastern Library Network (SOLINET) and is open to the public. Cost of the workshop is $220 for SOLINET members and $270 for non-members. To register, call SOLINET at 1 800 999-8558 or register online at www.solinet.net.

Would you like to update your knowledge about the exciting new field of metadata cataloging?
Would you like to be able to understand metadata protocol and be able to use it to organize your library resources?
Then the MLA Technical Services Round Table Spring Workshop will definitely be of interest to you!
This year’s program will offer an entire day’s training on the Foundation and Use of Metadata taught by Dr. Eunkyung Chung, an Assistant Professor at the School of Library and Information Science at USM. Dr. Chung, who recently finished her PhD at the University of North Texas, currently teaches two courses at USM in Metadata and Digital Libraries. She will share a wealth of current information about Metadata and its uses at the Spring workshop this year.
