<p>Under the direction of the Head of Information, Outreach and Delivery Services, the successful candidate will:</p>
<p>    * Provide in-person and virtual reference services at a general reference desk, some evening hours required.<br />
    * Participate in a general library instruction program supporting composition and Freshmen Seminar courses.<br />
    * Develop an instruction program, including web content and online tutorials, for the Department of English and other departments as assigned.<br />
    * Provide liaison and collection development for the Department of English and other departments as assigned.<br />
    * Join in library outreach and other innovative initiatives.</p>
<p>Qualifications: ALA accredited master&#8217;s degree by date of employment; degree in a humanities discipline, excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; knowledge of or course-work in reference methods and/or resources, strong knowledge of emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these technologies to a diverse range of library applications.</p>
<p>The position is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment reporting to the Head of Information, Outreach, and Delivery Services, position available August 1, 2008. Minimum annual salary is $38,000.</p>

<p>Job Description:<br />
Assists with the management and operation of historical manuscript collections and University Archives.</p>
<p>Job Duties and Responsibilities:<br />
Adheres to University and department policies, procedures, and regulations.</p>
<p>Determines the appropriate intellectual organization and physical arrangement of unique primary source materials.</p>
<p>Analyzes the intellectual content of collections of primary source materials and prepares descriptive guides and registers.</p>
<p>Conducts historical research on the principle subject of each collection and the preparation of accurate biographical and historical sketches for inclusion in collection guides.</p>
<p>Provides assistance to campus offices in the determination of which records have archival value, at what point in time they should be transferred to the archives, and in what manner they need to be prepared and documented.</p>
<p>Develops knowledge of archival and library resources for the Cook Library and the McCain Library, collects and maintains collection use statistics, and prepares monthly reports.</p>
<p>Researches and responds to telephone and mail reference inquires and provides reference assistance to on site researchers relating to all historical manuscript and University archives collections.</p>
<p>Accession historical manuscripts, University records, oral histories, theses, dissertations, and other primary source materials acquired by McCain Library and Archives.</p>
<p>Creates case file records for each donation, documents and acknowledges receipt, and prepares preliminary bibliographic control records for each accession.</p>
<p>Ascertains the need for and performs technical conservation procedures such as document cleaning, repair, deacidification, and humidification in order to preserve the intellectual and artifactual value of archival materials.</p>
<p>Maintains library and archival databases, adapts software for new applications, and provides hardware and software technical assistance to staff and students.</p>
<p>Provides editorial and production technical support for the design, updating, and publication of library and archives bibliographic guides as well as other library publications.</p>
<p>Carries out supervisory responsibilities in a timely, fair, and objective manner.</p>
<p>Minimum Qualifications:<br />
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The East Baton Rouge Parish Library System provides public library service for the City of Baton Rouge and the Parish of East Baton Rouge. Serving a population of 411,477 the system consists of a Main Library and 12 branches, has a collection of 1.9 million items, and a staff of 466 (318 FTE), and an annual circulation of 2.3 million. The library is funded by a ten-year 11.1 mill property tax that generates an estimated $30 million annually for the operation and maintenance of the existing system as well as a pay-as-you-go capital improvements program. The tax is to be renewed in 2015.</p>
<p>As Louisiana&#8217;s Capital City, greater Baton Rouge is the largest city in Louisiana. It is the home of Louisiana State University, Southern University, several large hospitals and an internationally-known biomedical research complex. Located on the Mississippi River, the city is in the center of an historically rich and diverse area with access to a wide variety of cultural and sporting opportunities.</p>

<p>Major Responsibilities - Under the direction of the Library Board of Control, the Director is the chief administrator of the library system, has oversight responsibility for operating and maintaining the existing system, and for planning and managing the construction of replacement libraries. The Director must provide leadership for the creation, development, and implementation of innovative services, embrace technology to enhance information delivery, and develop effective working relationships with city and community leaders.</p>
<p>Qualifications - An ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree and five years of supervisory management and financial experience as a Director and/or Assistant Director in a medium to large library system. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, possess the ability to work effectively with the Library Board, city administrators and staff, experience in planning and constructing libraries, and provide imaginative leadership that utilizes the latest electronic resources but is grounded in the realities of proven public library service and budget constraints.</p>
<p>Compensation - Pay range for the position is $72,388 - $100,202, with full benefits package.<br />

<p>Responsibilities:</p>
<p>UNA seeks an experienced, effective leader to guide the provision of evolving, relevant library services.  As chief administrator of Collier Library the Director provides vision, leadership, and accountability through collaborative strategic planning and assessment, policy development and implementation, budget preparation and administration, integration of appropriate technology, supervision of faculty and staff, support for professional development, and consortial collaboration. <p>Friday, April 25, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.<br />
Mississippi Library Commission, 3881 Eastwood Drive, Jackson</p>
<p>The 2008 Spring Workshop will present several topics related to cataloging, with a focus on tools, technology, and change. Two sessions (Cataloging Tools and Wikis) will provide opportunities for hands-on learning, so please bring your wireless laptop to the workshop. Luncheon will be on your own. Drawings for door prizes will be held at the beginning of the afternoon break (you must be present to win). CEU credit for this workshop has been approved by Mississippi Library Commission.</p>
<p>The workshop fee is $10.00. Please complete the <a href="http://www.misslib.org/activities/TSRT2008FlyerandRegistrationForm.pdf">Registration Form</a> and mail it with your check (payable to Mississippi Library Association) to arrive by Tuesday, April 22, 2008 to:<br />
