    Dear Sir/Madam:
My name is Ji-li Jiang, a children book author. Since I published my first book, Red Scarf Girl in 1997, I have been invited to many conferences and hundreds of schools to talk about my personal story when I was a child during the Cultural Revolution in China.
Each summer, I also lead a group of teacher/librarian to China to witness the old and new China. I wonder if you or someone from your organization can help me posting this information on your listserv. (Or you can direct me to the right person or right channel for this) I understand the school will end in a few days so it would be greatly appreciated if the information can be sent out soon so the potential participants can plan their summer during the holidays.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. If you can’t do it for some reasons, please let me know. Thanks and have a wonderful holiday.

    Best,
    Ji-li

    Dear teacher/librarian:
Ms. Ji-li Jiang, the author of Red Scarf Girl will lead a group to China in June 26, 2009. The trip is culturally oriented for teachers/librarians. Beside the sightseeing, the group will visit schools, children’s center and spend a day at teacher or student’s home, as well as visiting the author’s old neighborhood and places she described in her book, Red Scarf Girl. Hopefully this personal experience will enhance the participant’s understanding about China and the Chinese people. Please find the attached flyer of the trip, and contact Ji-li directly at info@jilijiang.com if you’re interested.

Karen Land, a writer and three-time participant in the 1,150-mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race across Alaska, will be on the road visiting many Mississippi with her sled dog, Borage, giving dog mushing presentations in libraries and schools in March 2009. The Iditarod Sled Dog Race takes place the first Saturday in March – this is the IDEAL time for a presentation in your community.

Since 1999, Karen and Borage have given over 800 talks across the United States. For more information, go to their website at http://www.mymusher.com. E-mail Karen directly (Borage doesn’t do computers) at mymusher@yahoo.com.

    ___

In 1999, Karen took a job caring for 100-some Alaskan Huskies at the Montana kennel of 21-time Iditarod musher, Terry Adkins, DVM. In 2001, Karen finished the 450-mile Wyoming International Stage Stop Race, the 250-mile Can Am Crown in Maine, and Montana’s 350-mile Race to the Sky Sled Dog Race.

In March 2002, Karen made her first appearance in the Iditarod and finished the race in just under 14 days. She went on to compete in 2003 and 2004. Completing the 1,150-mile Iditarod is among the most difficult feats in all of sports. More people have reached the summit of Mount Everest than have made it to the Iditarod finish line behind a dog team.

Karen Land is a columnist, author, and award-winning public speaker, placing reserve champion in the competitive Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Conference SCHOOL PRESENTERS IDOL COMPETITION in Los Angeles.

Join Borage and Karen on an icy adventure in the comfort of your library or school!

    MUSH!
