The Mississippi Baptist Historical Commission (MBHC) is an agency of the Mississippi Baptist Convention and serves as the state-wide repository for Southern Baptist church records. Our collection is comprised of primary and secondary sources relating to Mississippi Baptist history, most notably Mississippi Baptist churches and associations. The Commission also maintains biographical information on Mississippi Baptist preachers and other significant individuals relating to the Mississippi Baptist Convention. Materials are available in a variety of formats, including published books, unpublished manuscripts, microfilm, serials, including The Baptist Record, digital files, vertical files, oral histories, and photographs.
Title: Part-Time Assistant
Hours: 15-20 hr/week (We are open M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Hours are flexible during this time frame.)
Pay: $13/hr
Duties:
· Compile church History Highlights from materials in the MBHC collection (data input)
· File and shelve materials
· Help create a warm and welcoming environment for our patrons
· Assist the MBHC Assistant Director with other tasks as needed
Skills/Qualifications:
· Detail oriented
· Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
· Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
· Familiarity working with people
· Ability to lift boxes weighing approx. 25-30 pounds
· Dedicated Christian servant
· Knowledge and understanding of The Baptist Faith and Message
· College degree and/or work experience preferred
